The New York Liberty will host the second annual Brooklyn Dribble on Sunday, September 7, with a one-mile dribble parade beginning at 10am from Pier 6 to Pier 2. Parade registration is full and each participant receives a ball and tee; RSVP remains open for the free, post-parade Liberty Fan Fest. Pier 2 will feature performances by Ellie the Elephant and the Timeless Torches, a guest artist, DJs, food trucks, lawn games, face painting, airbrush tattoos and hair styling stations. Liberty coaches will run on-court drills for youth. Last year's event drew over 2,000 people; the team expects an even larger turnout after the 2024 championship.
The morning kicks off at 10am with a one-mile dribble parade from Pier 6 to Pier 2. Picture it: thousands of kids bouncing basketballs through Brooklyn Bridge Park, turning the piers into one giant percussion section. Registration for the parade is already full (every participant receives a ball and tee), but the good news is that you can still RSVP for the post-parade Liberty Fan Fest, which is free and open to all.
At Pier 2, expect a mash-up of basketball and block-party energy: Ellie the Elephant and the Timeless Torches will perform, a guest artist will hit the stage, and DJs will keep the bassline steady while families line up for food trucks, lawn games, face painting, airbrush tattoos and even hair styling stations. Coaches from the Liberty's Brooklyn Basketball program will be running on-court drills throughout the day, so future hoopers can sneak in a few extra reps before school starts.
Last year's debut drew more than 2,000 people, making it the Liberty's biggest community event since relocating to Brooklyn. This year, fresh off their 2024 championship run, the team expects an even bigger turnout. "The Brooklyn Dribble is more than a celebration of our team-it's about bringing people together, honoring the community that has continued to show up and support us and creating meaningful and lasting memories in Brooklyn, together," said Liberty CEO Keia Clarke.
