"It's a significant development for a high-profile matchup between a pair of bluebloods at Madison Square Garden. Cameron Boozer, the star for No. 5 Duke and son of former Blue Devils star and NBA standout Carlos Boozer, and Peterson are two players within a small group of young talents who hope to hear their names called first by Adam Silver in June's draft."
"The buzz about the NBA prospect started before the season when Peterson rattled off 21 points in 22 minutes of an incredible stretch in his team's exhibition win over Louisville. He finished with 22 points in a loss to North Carolina on Nov. 7, which was the last time he played for the Jayhawks. Now, Kansas will turn to other players on its roster to handle a Duke team that boasts another elite recruiting class."
Kansas freshman Darryn Peterson, a projected top NBA draft pick, will miss Tuesday's Champions Classic matchup against Duke due to a hamstring strain. Coach Bill Self said Peterson continues to make progress and will be reevaluated at the end of the week. Peterson has already missed the team's last two games and might be sidelined longer. Peterson scored 21 points in 22 minutes in an exhibition and had 22 points in the Nov. 7 loss to North Carolina, his last appearance. Kansas will rely more on Flory Bidunga and transfer Tre White while Duke fields several projected first-round talents.
