Judge: Morant punched teen in self-defense
Briefly

In a win for Ja Morant, a Tennessee judge ruled that the Memphis Grizzlies superstar acted in self-defense when he punched a teenager at his home, following an altercation during a pickup basketball game in July 2022.
Shelby County Circuit Court Judge ruled that Morant 'enjoys a presumption of civil immunity' under Tennessee's self-defense immunity statute, placing the burden of proof on the teenager and his legal team to show Morant didn't act in self-defense.
"We're disappointed, and we will continue to take the steps necessary to protect and advocate for Joshua," said Rebecca Adelman, Holloway's attorney, reflecting dissatisfaction with the ruling favoring Morant.
