In One Year, US Military Spending Increased a Staggering 25%

In only one year, from 1981 to 1982, U.S. military spending increased by 25.55%. The 1980s saw the biggest rise in military spending in the past 50 years.

The U.S. military budget increased significantly in the 1970s during the Vietnam War. After the Vietnam War ended, the 1980s brought accelerated military spending, nearly tripling the military expenditures of the Vietnam era.
