Heat already know exactly how their Terry Rozier fiasco ends
Briefly

Miami views Terry Rozier as expendable and faces scant trade interest in his $26.6 million expiring contract, making a post-deadline buyout the most likely outcome. Rozier's production declined last season, with his lowest scoring since 2018-19 and under 30 percent three-point shooting, reducing his market value. Expiring contracts can help teams shed salary, but Miami refuses to absorb multi-year money that would extend past 2025-26. The Heat prioritize preserving cap and trade flexibility for future offseasons, which limits willingness to take back longer deals or extend players like Tyler Herro. Miami recently surrendered a 2032 second-rounder to move a $5.6 million expiring contract.
Writing for The Stein Line, NBA insider Jake Fischer notes that there is "scant interest" in Rozier, and his $26.6 million expiring contract. Miami, of course, seems willing to move him for just about anything. As Fischer also explains, the Heat could have "some interest" in brokering a buyout, but no agreement is considered "imminent." This tracks with conventional wisdom, and common sense.
Rozier is coming off a season in which he averaged his fewest points since 2018-19, and shot under 30 percent from three. His value is at its nadir. And while moving him is not impossible, it's also not in the cards. Expiring deals have value to teams looking to lop off salary. If they wanted, the Heat could probably contact the Portland Trail Blazers about cobbling together a package for Jerami Grant, and the three years, $102.6 million left on his contract.
