Ex-NBA star Lamar Odom arrested for DUI in Las Vegas
"I didn't try it until I was 24 years old, when I was on summer vacation in Miami, Odom wrote in a 2017 Players' Tribune article. And I wish I could tell you there was a reason for it. There wasn't. It was just an asinine decision I made. If I knew that it was going to affect my life the way it did, I would've never even thought about it. Never. But I did it. It turned out to be a life-altering decision."
"Rick James said it best. Cocaine is a hell of a drug,' Odom wrote in 2017. When I was in that hospital bed, I kept thinking about all the people in my life who aren't here anymore."
Lamar Odom was arrested for driving under the influence in Las Vegas after being pulled over for driving more than 40 mph over the speed limit and improperly changing lanes. He posted bail and was scheduled to appear in court. Odom has a long history of substance abuse, including a 2013 DUI in Los Angeles that resulted in one day of rehab and three years probation. Odom has publicly discussed addiction to cocaine, saying he first tried it at 24 and called the decision life-altering. Odom overdosed in 2015, spent days in a coma, and later reported cardiac arrest, seizures and strokes.
