Clippers send CP3 home, say he's been released
"We are parting ways with Chris and he will no longer be with the team. We will work with him on the next step of his career. Chris is a legendary Clipper who has had a historic career. I want to make one thing very clear. No one is blaming Chris for our underperformance. I accept responsibility for the record we have right now. There are a lot of reasons why we've struggled. We're grateful for the impact Chris has made on the franchise."

The LA Clippers have announced they are parting ways with veteran guard Chris Paul and sent him home from Atlanta. Clippers president Lawrence Frank said the team will work with Paul on the next step of his career, called him a legendary Clipper and explicitly stated that Paul is not to blame for the team's poor start. The Clippers are 5-16, having lost 14 of their last 16 games; Bradley Beal suffered a season-ending hip injury in November. Paul returned on a one-year deal at age 40 to finish his career with the franchise he played for from 2011–17, with sources saying he plans to retire after this season.
