Chris Paul hosted regular dinners and viewing sessions at his Oklahoma City home during the 2019-20 season while his family stayed in Los Angeles. His chef prepared vegan meals for Paul and alternatives for guests. Young players such as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Luguentz Dort and Darius Bazley attended, watching one game on the big screen and another on Paul's iPad. Paul used those nights to teach, engaging teammates in basketball banter, analyzing player tendencies and team actions, and discussing defensive tactics the Thunder might employ. His constant instruction emphasized learning and camaraderie and has sometimes met resistance during his long NBA career.
