Trevor Milton, the founder of Nikola, was pardoned by President Donald Trump, just after being sentenced to four years for misleading investors about his electric vehicle startup. The White House confirmed the pardon, which may prevent restitution claims from victims of his fraudulent claims. Notably, Milton contributed over $1.8 million to Trump’s reelection campaign shortly before the pardon. His trial included evidence of deceiving marketing tactics like a misleading video of a truck prototype. Nikola has been embroiled in scandals and filed for bankruptcy earlier this year.
"I am incredibly grateful to President Trump for his courage in standing up for what is right and for granting me this sacred pardon of innocence."
