Judge Denies Musk's Request to Block OpenAI's For-Profit Plan
Briefly

In a recent ruling, a federal judge denied Elon Musk's request to prevent OpenAI from transitioning to a for-profit entity. While the request was rejected, Musk can continue with other claims in his lawsuit against OpenAI and CEO Sam Altman. Musk, a founding member of OpenAI, left the organization in 2018 after a power struggle. He filed a lawsuit alleging breaches of the company’s foundational principles and antitrust violations, particularly regarding OpenAI's attempts to limit competition, including against Musk's AI venture, xAI.
Elon's own emails show that he wanted to merge a for-profit OpenAI into Tesla. That would have been great for his personal benefit, but not for our mission or U.S. interests.
The court allowed Mr. Musk to proceed with other aspects of a lawsuit he filed last year against OpenAI and its chief executive, Sam Altman.
