The Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) has announced that CubeFS, an open-source distributed storage system founded in 2017, has graduated status. Supporting access protocols like POSIX, HDFS, and S3, CubeFS targets big data and AI applications. Its key subsystems include resource management, metadata, and data storage. Since its release in 2019 and subsequent entry into CNCF's stages, CubeFS has grown significantly, with contributors increasing from 27 to nearly 400 across 42 companies. It manages around 350 petabytes of data for over 200 organizations, including major firms like JD.com and Oppo.
The stability, reliable performance, and active community of CubeFS have built the trust of adopters, and we look forward to seeing how adoption develops as AI and ML continue to drive the growth of data.
CubeFS's pool of contributors has diversified significantly - increasing from 27 people working for just five companies to nearly 400 people across 42 companies.
