Bay Ridge Gets Tech Savvy With a Digital Town Square
Briefly

In response to evolving consumer habits exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, Bay Ridge's Business Improvement District developed the 5th Avenue Shopping App. Officially launched recently, the app is designed to be a comprehensive digital platform encompassing local businesses, events, promotions, traffic updates, weather, and community news. Executive director Elizabeth Lovejoy emphasizes its aim to enhance customer engagement and support local merchants. Developed by Loqiva, it's notable for being the first of its kind in the U.S. to create a 'digital town hub' for community interaction and commerce.
As consumer habits evolve, we saw an opportunity to create a digital platform that promotes businesses, events and special offers while making it easier for residents and visitors to engage with the vibrant 5th Avenue corridor.
Our goal is for the app to serve as a one-stop resource for everything happening on 5th Avenue. We want to make it easier for shoppers to discover new businesses, find exclusive promotions and stay updated on events.
