"It is such a different park to get to, because you can't just drive in and there's an additional expense because of that," said Andrea Mills, education coordinator for Island Packers, the company that provides boat service to the national park. "Because of that, it is hard to compare and contrast [price] to other parks."
"We know that a lot of other parks on the mainland, people can just easily drive to. And here at Channel Islands, we have a very different story because they are literally islands off the coast of California," said Jasmine Reinhardt, a spokesperson for Channel Islands National Park. "So inherently, that does already present some barriers for people."
