Revamped Green Acres Mall to include new eatery Panda Express
Briefly

The Green Acres Mall in Long Island is set for a significant redevelopment costing at least $130 million. Announced last year, this redevelopment will bring new tenants like Panda Express, Dave's Hot Chicken, and Shake Shack, among others. The project aims to transform the mall, which includes demolishing the former Sears building, adding a ShopRite supermarket, and enhancing landscaping and entertainment options to attract higher-end retailers. The project is currently seeing strong leasing activity, with 50% of the new space already committed, and is expected to be completed by fall 2027.
"Demand in pre-leasing has been very strong with almost 50% of the project square footage committed and another 17% in the [letter of intent] stage. Tenants will open in phases beginning in 2026 with full completion by fall 2027," Healey said.
"The planned project has helped boost leasing activity at the mall, reflecting a positive trend towards reimagining retail spaces and attracting higher-end tenants to the Sunrise Highway property."
"Next week, bulldozers will begin taking down parts of the Valley Stream mall, signaling the start of a significant $130 million redevelopment project aimed at enhancing the mall's appeal and functionality."
"The redevelopment project will include 370,000 square feet of new construction, including a freestanding ShopRite and a lineup of popular fast-casual restaurants, improving overall aesthetics and accessibility for visitors."
