American Express announced plans to construct its global headquarters at 2 World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan, marking the completion of the final commercial office building at the World Trade Center campus. The company will relocate from its current 200 Vesey Street location after 40 years. Developed by Silverstein Properties on Port Authority property under a long-term ground lease, the electric-powered building spans nearly 2 million square feet across 55 floors. Foster + Partners designed the structure to prioritize sustainability and employee well-being, featuring flexible workspaces, over an acre of outdoor space, and multiple landscaped terraces and gardens. Turner Construction handles core and shell construction, with completion expected in 2031 and capacity for up to 10,000 workers.
