Tim Pearson, a key aide to Mayor Adams, resigned amid a federal corruption probe and scrutiny over his alleged actions regarding city contracts and kickbacks.
"People are doing very well on these contracts," Pearson reportedly said, emphasizing his desire to also benefit financially. "I have to get mine. Where are my crumbs?"
Mayor Eric Adams defended Pearson despite the federal investigation, stating that his contributions saved the city hundreds of millions of dollars through cost reductions.
Pearson has faced numerous allegations beyond financial misconduct, including sexual harassment claims and involvement in a controversial incident at a migrant shelter.
