Socialist mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani confronted former Governor Andrew Cuomo outside his luxurious apartment, demanding transparency and accountability. Mamdani's campaign recently raised over $845,000 and boasts significant grassroots support, including a large volunteer base and extensive door-knocking efforts. In contrast, Cuomo's campaign had raised $1.5 million shortly after entering the race. Mamdani criticized Cuomo for accepting donations from Republicans and accused him of neglecting New York's critical public services, highlighting his contradiction over the MTA and Medicaid cuts.
"When are you going to find your spine? When are you going to actually answer the questions that you've been evading?" said Mamdani at Cuomo's doorstep.
"We have not only created the largest small following base of any campaign in this race, we've also assembled the single largest field team that we've ever seen in a mayoral race."
"This is a governor who now decries the state of the MTA when he is the same governor who stole hundreds of millions of dollars from it."
"A governor who pretends he could stand up to President Trump's cutting of Medicaid when he did the same things as the governor of this state."
