Rebecca Weiner, NYPD deputy commissioner of counterterrorism and intelligence, stated: "This is a very festive time, it's a very busy time in the city and we are going to make sure all our holiday markets, all our holiday activities are protected ... so New Yorkers will see an enhanced presence of officers around Christmas markets."
Weiner reassured: "We want to reassure New Yorkers that we are going to be protecting our infrastructure and our events over the course of what we hope to be a calm, happy and healthy holiday season."
Following the tragic event in Germany, Weiner emphasized: "There is nothing linking the attack in Germany to New York City," underscoring the proactive approach being taken by law enforcement.
