New York City Sheriff Anthony Miranda has filed a $350,000 lawsuit against contractors for not obtaining necessary permits for renovations on his property. This lawsuit is seen as ironic given Miranda's controversial approach to locking up suspected illegal pot shops, which many argue has bypassed due process. Legal expert Nadia Kahnauth criticized Miranda's actions, stating it's hypocritical for him to seek repercussions for contractors while imposing similar violations of due process on others, specifically businesses that have faced padlocking without fair recourse. The contradiction raises questions about fairness and accountability in his law enforcement actions.
It's extremely ironic for him to bring this type of suit, when meanwhile, his office doesn't follow any due process day in and day out, said attorney Nadia Kahnauth.
He's accusing them of not following due process, while imposing this type of blatant violation of due process on other parties throughout the city and bringing a lawsuit for $350,000 when it happens to you, said Kahnauth.
