New York has initiated the fourth phase of its Municipal Infrastructure Program (MIP), allocating nearly $50 million for broadband projects. This phase, part of the broader ConnectALL initiative, aims to enhance high-speed internet access for unserved areas, contributing to a total funding of nearly $300 million. The program has already resulted in the construction of 2,400 miles of fiber and connected nearly 100,000 locations. Governor Kathy Hochul emphasized the importance of reliable internet access for all New Yorkers to thrive in the modern economy.
"Reliable, affordable high-speed internet is no longer a luxury - it's a necessity for New Yorkers to fully participate in our modern economy and society."
"Through the ConnectALL initiative, we are making historic investments to ensure every New Yorker has access to the digital tools they need to succeed."
