During a recent rally at the Rehoboth Cathedral, Mayor Eric Adams defended his leadership amid mounting pressure to resign due to ongoing controversies, including management of the city’s migrant crisis. He disparaged public advocate Jumaane Williams, suggesting he would be a poor mayor if Adams were to step down. Furthermore, Adams controversially invoked ‘Mein Kampf,’ falsely attributing a quote to Martin Luther King Jr. to emphasize his perceived persecution by his critics. His remarks were met with both support and concern from attendees, spotlighting significant tensions in his administration.
‘If I step down, the public advocate becomes the mayor. So can you imagine turning the city over to him? That is the top reason not to step down,’ Adams stated.
Adams also claimed he once heard Martin Luther King, Jr. recite a quote from Hitler's infamous Nazi manifesto, ‘Mein Kampf,’ that went something like, ‘If you tell a lie long enough, loud enough, people will tend to believe it's true.’
‘I slept in a homeless shelter with my migrant, asylum-seeker brothers and sisters and talked with them on the ground,’ Hizzoner declared, defending his record.
