Long Island drug dealer indicted for dog fighting and selling 'enough fentanyl to kill more than 65,000 people'
Briefly

Kevin Brown, a Long Island drug dealer, was indicted for drug and animal cruelty charges after authorities found over 1,000 pills containing fentanyl at his residence, which could potentially kill more than 65,000 individuals. In addition to the drugs, police discovered seven pit bulls kept in appalling conditions, which were linked to dog fighting. The investigation stemmed from a prior overdose incident, leading to a raid that unveiled a disturbing connection between illegal drug trade and the brutality of animal fighting. The dogs have since begun recovery, with some finding new homes.
Selling dangerous drugs is often associated with the cruelty of dogfighting, and this defendant allegedly possessed and sold pills containing enough fentanyl to kill more than 65,000 people while also housing, breeding, and training seven pit bulls to fight.
The malnourished dogs were spotted inside dirty wooden crates and six of them were tied up with heavy chains, prosecutors alleged.
The seven dogs - five males and two females - were marked with horrific dog fighting scars and the two females were used for breeding, according to prosecutors.
Months later, the dogs recovered and two have been adopted, prosecutors said. The five others are up for adoption at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter.
