A New Jersey state senator has revived a bill permitting self-service gas at stations with four or more pumps. Despite being New Jersey's last in this regard, the proposal faces opposition even from locals who value convenience and jobs related to full-service stations. Republican Sen. Jon Bramnick acknowledges the unpopularity of his proposal, once more trying to spark discussion around this long-standing ban from the 1949 Retail Gasoline Dispensing Safety Act, especially after Oregon recently lifted its own ban on self-service fueling.
