'I am back': Former Boston City Councilor Frank Baker announces run for at-large seat
Briefly

Frank Baker, a former Boston City Councilor, has announced his candidacy to return as an at-large councilor after being urged by constituents to re-enter the political arena. Representing Dorchester for 12 years in the past, Baker is known for his conservative viewpoints and strong questions during his tenure. His decision to run comes after some contemplation and discussions with political figures. Current councilors include Ruthzee Louijeune and Erin Murphy, who DiCara believes will stay strong amidst Baker's return.
"I have heard a steady beat of Bostonians urging me to step back in and get involved. After much deliberation and discussion, I have decided to answer the call and do just that," Baker wrote on X.
"I expect that he believes John FitzGerald is doing a great job, which I think most people do. When (Baker) was on the council, he probably asked the toughest questions..."
"It will probably increase the volume of the council race, and I think it's good for democracy," said Larry DiCara, on Baker's return to the council race.
"Baker promised to be a strong independent voice for the people of Boston, indicating his commitment to serve the city anew."
