Mayor Eric Adams established the City Housing Activation Task Force to identify potential housing sites on city-owned land, amid New York's housing crisis.
The task force will explore over 5,000 parcels across New York, aiming to develop 500,000 new housing units in the next eight years to combat the crisis.
With the apartment vacancy rate dropping to 1.4%, the lowest since 1968, Mayor Adams emphasizes the necessity of innovative solutions for affordable housing.
"We must bring new innovative ideas to the table... to help deliver for New Yorkers," said Mayor Adams regarding the urgent housing crisis.
