House Democrat Tells Fox News Party Needs to Get Over Ideological Purity Thing': Progressives Can't Win' Key Races
Briefly

In a recent interview, Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-FL) addressed criticisms from the progressive wing of his party regarding his absence at a town hall event. He clarified that the event was not organized by him and defended his moderate stance, stating that his district leans D-plus-two. Moskowitz argued that Democratic members need to prioritize winning elections over embracing ideological purism, as many districts, including those won by Trump, require candidates who can appeal to a broader audience. He affirmed the necessity of maintaining a diverse party with room for various perspectives while aiming for electoral victories, particularly in competitive districts.
You know, that being said, my district is a D-plus-two district. It's a moderate district. I'm a moderate. I'm not a progressive.
Democrats have to, like, get one thing straight. We need to win. This purity thing that we want to go through, that's great if we want to continue to be in the minority.
But if we wanna win, we gotta put people in seats that can win those seats. We got Democrats in Trump seats. You can't run progressives there.
We have a big tent. There's room for all of these ideas in our party. But if we're gonna make Hakeem Jeffries the speaker, it's gonna run through districts.
