Gov. Kathy Hochul expressed her dismay at the actions of Linda Sun, emphasizing it was a betrayal to two administrations. She stated, "These actions taken by Linda Sun were an absolute betrayal of two administrations in state government. She was a mid-level aide. Hired by my predecessor. She worked here for more than a decade. And she lied to my administration. She violated our ethics rules. And as I said, the moment we discovered this she was gone."
During a press conference, Hochul pointed out the lack of personal contact with Sun, saying while she acknowledged Sun's role previously as a liaison, she maintained, "I was not in personal contact with Sun much when Sun worked in my administration and had no real role in policy-making. However, I did work more closely with her when she served as lieutenant governor."
