The Suffolk County District Attorney announced the conclusion of the investigation into Rex Heuermann, accused of murdering seven sex workers since 1993. Heuermann was arrested in July 2023 and faced charges for multiple deaths, particularly those of the 'Gilgo Four.' With the investigation phase closed, the DA confirmed they will continue to look into other unsolved cases. Furthermore, the prosecution has regained access to $13 million in federal funds previously frozen due to corruption probes, significantly aiding trial preparations as they move toward prosecution.
The investigation phase, in regard to this case, is pretty much closed. That is not to say we're not investigating other unsolved cases in Suffolk County.
The investigation is over and we're going to be getting access to that money. Last time I checked it was about $13 million.
