On May Day, over 15,000 federal workers and supporters gathered in Foley Square, New York, organized by the Federal Unionists Network (FUN). This protest aimed to highlight issues affecting federal employees and the broader labor movement. FUN's activities focus on solidarity among various labor groups as a response to governmental challenges, particularly from the Trump administration. The gathering reflects a collective effort to defend public service and revitalizes a new labor movement. They emphasized the historical significance of May Day for labor rights, showcasing unity and purpose among workers.
We have an opportunity to remind the rest of the working class that we have May Day. It represents the best of American labor, its history and its capacity.
FUN is organizing federal workers and building solidarity with other labor groups in order to save their jobs and the work they do for the public.
It's not every lifetime you're able to do that. As federal workers, we're standing up and catalyzing a new labor movement alongside the defense of the public sphere.
More than 15,000 people waited in anticipation for the May Day protest. FUN has been organizing weekly demonstrations a block away.
