CNN's Elie Honig Tees Off on Trump DOJ's Bizarre,' Worrisome' Attempt to Save Eric Adams: Never Seen Anything Like It'
Briefly

Elie Honig, CNN's senior legal analyst, criticized a memo by Acting Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove that dismissed charges against New York Mayor Eric Adams. Bove issued the order without evaluating the case's evidence or legal basis, suggesting the dismissal was influenced by Adams's criticism of Biden's immigration policies. Honig pointed out that the memo's reasoning is unusual and politically charged, claiming it undermines the integrity of the Justice Department by prioritizing political optics over legal merits. He argued that public officials must be held accountable, regardless of their responsibilities.
This is a bizarre and extraordinary memo. I've really never seen anything like it in all my years of being at the Justice Department and since then.
What the memo says essentially is the bosses at DOJ ordering the Southern District of New York to dismiss their indictment of Eric Adams.
They say, Well, the prior U.S. attorney had bad motives when he indicted Eric Adams, without providing zero support, zero evidence for that.
No public official should ever be indicted for anything because they all have jobs to do, from a member of a city council all the way up.
