The Staten Island Department of Transportation has unveiled a plan to enhance the bike lane along Richmond Terrace, specifically in front of Snug Harbor. This upgrade aims to improve safety and navigation, as current mixed-use traffic presents challenges. The existing shared-use bike lanes will be redesigned into two sections, incorporating dedicated spaces for vehicles, buses, and bicycles. The adjustments include wider lanes and buffers, thereby retaining existing parking and bus services during the planned work, which is set to begin this summer.
