Former NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio publicly defended his successor, Eric Adams, in the wake of Adams' indictment connected to a foreign corruption scheme. De Blasio criticized the politicization of the Justice Department and the handling of the case. He contended that the charges against Adams were flimsy and emphasized that differing views on immigration policy should not imply corruption. De Blasio's comments aimed to clarify the situation while criticizing the administration's allegations of wrongdoing.
I think there's more than one thing going on, and I fear they're all kind of being blended together in a way that's just not fair and not accurate.
I don't happen to agree with him on a number of things he says or does, but I don't think it's fair to say...that therefore there's a quid pro quo.
The original charges brought against him appeared to me to be very flimsy...They shouldn't have kept it an open prosecution.
