Interim Police Commissioner Thomas Donlon confirmed on Saturday that his homes were raided by federal authorities just eight days after he took office, asserting it was unrelated to his NYPD role.
Mayor Eric Adams appointed Donlon on September 12, during a turbulent time for the NYPD, following the resignation of Edward Caban over connection to a federal investigation.
In a late-night announcement, Donlon said the search warrants executed at his residences took items from his possession from 20 years ago, underscoring the investigation's disconnection from his current duties.
Despite the embarrassment caused to the NYPD, Donlon claimed the investigation is not linked to department matters or other ongoing investigations involving members of the Adams administration.
