Adrienne Adams Says She 'Cannot Sit Back and Do Nothing'
Briefly

Adrienne Adams, the City Council Speaker, is stepping into the mayoral race, making it clear that she won't shy away from exposing truths about her male rivals, particularly those with allegations of sexual misconduct. She emphasizes her urgency in addressing New York City’s challenges, including affordable housing and public safety. Her campaign appears to target a desire for progressive change, as she seeks to build trust between police and communities, while also advocating for drastic improvements in services for the homeless and mentally ill. Adams plans to run under her name to distinguish herself from current Mayor Eric Adams.
There are people that have truths that have yet to be told... I am here to make sure that all of that sexual misconduct and all of that is not a thing that we carry into the future.
City Hall has been shaken. We have a president in Washington right now that is just spewing chaos all over the nation. New York has a target on its back.
I plan to campaign simply as Adrienne to avoid being confused with the mayor, and to address the dire straits the city is in.
On a policy level, I am committed to dramatically expanding services and facilities for homeless and mentally ill New Yorkers.
