Frank Morano, a South Shore City Council candidate, held a press conference advocating for public safety alongside local officials and law enforcement leaders. He highlighted the essential role of law enforcement in maintaining a safe community, reflecting on his own experiences growing up in Staten Island. Other speakers, including Assemblymember Michael Reilly and Rep. Nicole Malliotakis, supported Morano's advocacy, stressing that legislative policies must translate effectively to real-world safety. They called for substantial changes in city governance to address ongoing public safety concerns.
Public safety is the foundation of any functioning city, especially New York, and especially Staten Island. I grew up on Staten Island... it happened because of the incredible hard work and... law enforcement.
The words that you have on these papers will not transition to the street or to the courtroom that you think it will.
Substantive changes are needed. The City Council needs to make changes, and the only way to do that is with fresh blood.
We're here because we're talking about the most fundamental issue facing our city, and that's public safety.
