2 cyclists crossing Marine Parkway Bridge get sliced by kite string
Briefly

Two cyclists sustained serious injuries when they rode into a kite string on the Marine Parkway Bridge. One rider, Jennifer Noble, described how the string cut through her hand and forehead. After noticing a kite flying nearby, she and another rider collided with the nearly invisible string, resulting in harm. Police confirmed both cyclists were hospitalized, with one in intensive care. Noble and other cyclists rendered immediate assistance, and a GoFundMe was started for recovery costs. The incident highlights safety risks associated with kite-flying near public spaces.
“I caught it with my hand. I tried to prevent it from moving, but it cut through my fingers and then my forehead and then hit me on the helmet.”
“That was my first thought when I ran into the skirt string - I could feel the tension of the wind on it. I just knew it was a kite string.”
Noble’s friend is now recovering at Kings County Hospital's intensive care unit, according to a GoFundMe page created to help him with the costs associated with his injuries.
Police confirmed reports of both riders' injuries and are investigating the incident.
