Sal Moschella, who emigrated from Italy, rose to become a respected NYPD lieutenant and devoted family man. Despite humble beginnings, he achieved a master's in criminal justice and had a successful career while balancing financial hardships and odd jobs. After retiring from the police force due to health issues, he dedicated much of his life to volunteer work within community organizations. His commitment to family, culture, and community earned him lasting respect, alongside fond memories for his humor and resilience.
His family was not educated. He did this all on his own.
Even if he was struggling, we would never see that struggle.
He was on the [organization's] Commission for Social Justice and he was also the editor of The Golden Lion.
He was a serious person except he had a great sense of humor and he could make people laugh.
