A Target store in Brooklyn's Flatbush neighborhood has implemented a policy forbidding individuals under 18 from shopping alone due to a rise in fights and delinquent behavior. To enforce this, security guards are stationed at entrance points to check identification. The decision follows similar measures enacted by a nearby McDonald's, which was also affected by rowdy teenage crowds. This move aims to discourage loitering and ensure safety in the store, as police have responded to nearly 30 incidents at the location this year.
All guests under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult at this Target store.
We try to make sure everybody doesn't have a hangout spot after school.
Police have been called to the location 29 times so far this year.
The Target, located in the Triangle Junction mall, began putting security guards at its front doors.
