Following nearly three decades of investigation, police are set to disclose the identities of a woman and her young daughter discovered in connection with the Gilgo Beach murder case. The remains of the woman, who has been referred to as 'Peaches' due to a tattoo, were found in Hempstead Lake State Park in 1997, and her daughter's skeletal remains were found in 2011. DNA testing has confirmed their familial connection, marking a significant development in a long-standing case that has troubled investigators for years.
Cops are expected Wednesday to finally reveal the identity a woman dubbed 'Peaches' and her 2-year-old daughter after their remains were found at Gilgo Beach.
Nassau County investigators plan to release the victims' names at a planned news conference later Wednesday, NBC reported, citing law enforcement sources.
The woman's dismembered torso was found stuffed into a container in a wooded part of Hempstead Lake State Park back in June 1997.
Her daughter's skeletal remains, meanwhile, were uncovered in 2011. DNA testing confirmed the girl, who was about 2 years old at the time of her death, was Peaches' daughter.
