Yehuda Cohen, the father of Israeli hostage Nimrod Cohen, accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of delaying a potential deal for his son's release from Hamas. Speaking at the Israeli embassy in London, he urged increased public pressure on the government to push for a continuation of ongoing negotiations. Cohen expressed that the first phase of the ceasefire had seen the release of Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners but criticized Netanyahu's reluctance to establish a permanent ceasefire, attributing it to personal political motives. Families of other hostages emphasized the prolonged agony they endure while waiting for their loved ones' return.
Cohen stated, "Everything stands on our prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who refuses to get to a permanent ceasefire. He's not doing it because of ideological reasons. He's doing it for personal reasons. He wants to stay in power."
Yehuda Cohen emphasized, "There is a deal on the table. The only thing is Netanyahu is stalling it and I'm here to say loud and clear: we need pressure on our government."
