Croydon Council has reintroduced the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Programme this Easter to support children eligible for benefits-related free school meals. Funded by the government, the initiative provides free meals and activities like sports, cooking, coding, and music. With 67 clubs operated by partner organizations, each child is allowed to attend four sessions during the holidays. Parents can receive unique vouchers to participate. The programme aims to keep children active and engaged while providing vital community support, especially for families with children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
"The HAF Programme is a fantastic opportunity for our children to stay active, learn new skills, and make new friends over Easter, whilst ensuring they receive a hot, nutritious meal each day."
"This programme provides essential support for our community, which is why I contacted the Secretary of State for Education last September to emphasise why it should continue beyond March this year."
