Exclusive | NYC mom charged at by trans rights protester, calls on feds to help education council
Briefly

A chaotic Community Education Council meeting in Manhattan escalated when trans-rights activists confronted conservative advocate Maud Maron, blocking her exit and shouting slogans. This incident, which included disruptions at previous meetings, reflects escalating tensions around the discussion of policies regarding transgender participation in sports. Maron emphasized her support for protest rights but expressed fear for her safety. She called for federal intervention to ensure safety at these increasingly tumultuous events, pointing to the need for increased police presence during protests that have turned hostile.
"She lunged at me, she barred the door with her body and she said I couldn't leave," said Maron, who is now calling on the feds to ensure safety at the group's increasingly chaotic meetings.
"I am used to protesters and demonstrators loudly disagreeing with me - in fact, I support their constitutional right to do so - but the last CEC meeting was scary," added Maron.
"Without the beefed up NYPD presence, I would not have been physically safe to walk out of the building and down the street."
The incident was the latest in a year of disruptions by trans-rights activists at meetings for CEC 2.
