A Brooklyn teenager has been arrested for making terroristic threats to schools in Texas and Florida, including targeting a relative of a victim from the 2022 Uvalde shooting. The 16-year-old was charged with one felony count after a three-month investigation called "Long Arm of Justice". He was responsible for sending threats via social media and making multiple false reports. Though investigators found no weapons at his home, the implications of his actions raised concerns about community safety and the strain on law enforcement resources.
The 16-year-old boy was picked up May 1 at his Brooklyn home and charged with one felony count of making terroristic threats.
The teen's alleged actions "have had significant implications for school safety, community security, and the allocation of law enforcement resources," Uvalde police said.
'This operation demonstrates our commitment... to ensure we hold people accountable for threatening our community,' Uvalde Police Chief Homer E. Delgado said.
Investigators searched his home and found that he did not have access to weapons and had no direct connections to Uvalde, San Antonio or Florida, police said.
