A significant glitch in T-Mobile's child tracking app, the T-Life app, allowed parents to see random children's locations instead of their own. Many parents expressed distress on social media, revealing that while they could not track their own kids, they were able to access the real-time locations of other children across the country. T-Mobile acknowledged the issue as a temporary system problem stemming from a planned technology update and promised to resolve the situation for affected customers. The incident raised concerns about privacy and the effectiveness of child safety products.
'I'm getting locations for kids [I don't know] from different states but can't get my son's location,' they added.
'As a mother, this is super alarming to me, and I raised flags right away [with T-Mobile] and nobody took me seriously there,' a parent referred to by the pseudonym Jenna.
'Yesterday we fully resolved a temporary system issue with our SyncUP products that resulted from a planned technology update.
'Y'all need to figure out your systems because I should not be able to see other people's children on my SyncUP locations and not be able to see MY OWN CHILD.'
