You Feel Powerful: Marching Through Carnival
Briefly

In New Orleans, high school marching bands are integral to the start of the school year, culminating in the festive Carnival season. Students from institutions like L.B. Landry High and St. Katharine Drexel Preparatory School engage in extensive practice, developing not only musical skills but also crucial life skills. Band directors, like Wilbert Rawlins, emphasize nurturing students' growth as musicians. Participation in band often leads to academic motivation and scholarships, promoting both personal and educational development, while instilling a cultural legacy that students are eager to pass on.
