U.S. Girls, the musical project of Toronto's Meg Remy, announces the new album "Scratch It" set to release on June 20th via 4AD. This marks the first album since 2023's "Bless This Mess" and features a new band. The first single, "Bookends," is a tribute to the late Power Trip frontman Riley Gale, noted for its immersive sound that mixes various genres. A North American tour will support the album, starting with a Nashville show on May 14th, moving through key cities, and concluding with California dates in September.
Remy recorded the new album with her band "live off the floor" with few overdubs, giving Scratch It a direct, intimate feel with notes of country, gospel, garage rock, soul, disco, folk, and more.
Spanning just over 12 minutes and moving at a patient, waltzing trot, "Bookends" pays tribute to the late Power Trip frontman Riley Gale, written through the lens of John Carey's Eyewitness To History.
