Staten Island business throws summer block party to celebrate community and culture
Briefly

The Summer Solstice Block Party hosted by Richmond Hood Co. in Staten Island was a vibrant celebration of music, art, and community. Transforming Castleton Avenue into a lively festival, attendees enjoyed various activities including skating lessons, art exhibitions, and interactions with rapper Redman. Family-friendly experiences were abundant, with crafts and food options available. Organizer Tariq Zaid emphasized the event's commitment to local culture, highlighting its history of community engagement. The event coincided with Go Skateboarding Day, fostering inclusion for both novice and seasoned skaters, while also supporting local businesses in the area.
"There's plenty of art today, where we encourage people to create something," said Zaid. "That's the vibe we are giving today. Music, art and culture."
"We have people traveling from Chicago and Virginia to come for that," said Tariq Zaid, co-owner of Richmond Hood Co.
