The New York City area is set for a rainy first week of summer, starting early Wednesday and continuing through Saturday afternoon. The National Weather Service indicates multiple rounds of showers, with heavy cloud cover expected until clearing on Sunday. Meteorologist Matthew Wunsch characterized the current weather pattern as "unsettled" and noted that this spring has been significantly rainier and cooler compared to previous years, attributed to various low-pressure systems affecting the region's climate.
"We remain in this kind of unsettled pattern pretty much through at least the beginning of the weekend," he said.
"This spring has so far been rainier and cooler than previous springs due to a barrage of low-pressure systems sweeping the region."
