Hum, a heavy shoegaze band from Champaign, IL, played Slide Away in New York after a break since 2019, performing on Friday and returning again on Saturday. Saturday’s show featured a largely new mix of songs, repeating only four from the previous night, including “Stars,” with material drawn from 2020’s Inlet and older releases. The crowd responded with substantial floor moshing and some crowd surfing, while the band delivered loud, heavy performances. Nothing performed for the 10th anniversary of Tired of Tomorrow, playing the album and bringing Zofia Smith to join on “Nineteen Ninety Heaven.” Chapterhouse returned as well, with Rachel Staggs performing Rachel Goswell’s part on “Pearl,” and kept a similar setlist to Friday. Swirlies also performed.
