Free "Friday Happy Hour" at Golden Gate Park

Illuminate and the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department will launch the 5th season of free live music at the historic Golden Gate Bandshell in Golden Gate Park on March 1, 2025. More than 125 concerts, featuring diverse musical genres primarily on Wednesdays, Fridays, Sundays, and select Saturdays, are planned to celebrate the Bandshell's 125th anniversary. Featuring a monumental tribute to Paul McCartney during the opening concert, this season promises to build on the success of previous years that attracted nearly 1 million attendees, highlighting the venue's significant cultural role.
The 2025 season will run through mid-November, featuring shows most Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, and select Saturdays, with more than 125 free concerts planned.
Illuminate LIVE has attracted nearly 1 million music lovers to the park's Music Concourse, with over 600 free shows held over the past four years.
The Bandshell was a gift from Claus Spreckels, meant to inspire and elevate civic culture through free outdoor concerts, showcasing San Francisco's public musical life.
The opening concert will feature a tribute to Paul McCartney, coinciding with a new exhibit at the de Young Museum.
